Body water is an important measure when it comes to a healthy body. A human body can lose body water through the skin via sweat, urine and by breathing. Your water intake should compensate the loss of body water. If the balance is right, you will feel at your best!
What is Body Water?
Body water is the total amount of fluid in a human body. The human body should consist of at least 50% of water. Water helps to regulate the internal body temperate, strengthens your muscles, and moisturizes your skin. These are just a few examples why body water and drinking water is so important.
Everybody knows that drinking water is important, but few people know why. Not drinking water can cause physical problems such as:
- Mental issues
- Muscle cramps
- Skin problems
- Airway issues and allergies
- High cholesterol
- High blood pressure
- Decreased physical performance
- Weight gain
One way to test your hydration level is by checking your urine. If your urine is clear to pale yellow, you are hydrated. Once your urine starts to turn a dark yellow, you need to drink more water!
How to Increase Body Water
There are many ways to increase your body water percentage. It starts with drinking at least 2 liters of water per day. Most important: never wait until you are thirsty. Another way to increase your body water percentage is to eat raw fruits and vegetables because they are dense in water. Keep this in mind: drink water and other fluids until you urinate frequently and with light color.
